So it’s our first giveaway (yaaay!) Ouidad has gifted us with 5 Pump n’ Go Styling Spray Gels from their new KRLY Kids line. The gel contains wheat proteins that define curls and protect against humidity. 5 applicants will be selected at random to receive one.

To enter all you have to do is

1. Give a brief version of your child’s hair regimen (please include his or her age!)

and

2. Include a photo of your little one rocking his/her curls.

I’ll go first as an example:

1. I have a 9-month old named Noah. Because his hair and skin are so delicate and sensitive at this age, I keep it simple. Every time we take a bath (about 3 times a week), I rinse his hair with water and gently massage his scalp. This is enough to get it clean. Once he’s out of the bath and dried off, I rake a dime-sized amount of jojoba oil through his hair.

His hair currently only grows at the top (lol!) so I do a ‘protective style’ by putting in one or two braids. Of course these neat braids are annihilated within minutes once he starts playing, lol. I also line his crib with a satin sheet so his hair stays moisturized at night. If we’re between bath times and he needs moisture, I spritz with Shea Moisture Hold & Shine Moisture Mist. Sometimes I’ll take the braids down and let him rock a Mr-T fro (lol) or do a samurai bun.

Here’s my munchkin rocking his samurai look

And that’s it!

The giveaway will close on June 27 at 12:00 a.m. CST.

Alright ladies, good luck! And I’m looking forward to reading your kiddie regimens!

  1. Hey Leila N. ,
Out of my entire tribe (4 babies) I pretty much keep the same regimen for all of them, but the one that I can get away with allowing her curls to go free until she figures out how to mess them up is my 21 month old Maddy! I wash her hair (every 2-3 weeks) with Curls: Curlicious Curls Cleansing Cream. Then I apply a dime size of Shea Moisture Restorative Leave -in Cond Mixed with Jojoba Oil. And last for styling a small amount of Eco Style Olive Oil gel (for the edges) mixed with Coconut Oil. In Between Styling before I was again, its always Coconut oil and water. Simple and straight to the point-Same Regimen Every Time for all my babies!

  2. Although both my 4 and 1 yr olds have different hair textures, I use the same regime for them both (mostly). I wash their hair with a tear free shampoo (Johnson’s extra conditioning is currently in the cabinet) once a week or whenever we go to the park playgrounds with The Sand (ugh!). Foam Floored Playgrounds are my preference for that reason. After the wash, I let their hair air dry. You see the natural quality of their curls. To maintain moisture throughout the week I add a dalup of Coconut oil (Nutiva or Nature’s Way), massaging it evenly throughout as needed. This gives it some low key shine and manageability.. The younger one has fat long curls that tangle easily while the older has short tight rings that when combed out looks like an Afro. I keep their hair cut in such a way that is low maintenance but supports a variety of looks (such as braids, pony tail, Curly Fro). I like the flexibility both of their textures afford. It allows me to switch up their looks while celebrating their individuality. (Picture: Having fun in the bath tub with Chai, the 1 year old.)
